Turntable or streaming music, movies or gaming, this pair of HD5 2-Way Active Wireless Bookshelf Speakers from Audioengine have been designed to deliver powerful, Hi-Fi sound. Inside each speaker is a 0.75" silk tweeter and 5" Aramid fiber woofer, while outside, they are encased by a low-vibration, 0.7" thick high-resin MDF cabinet in a stunning matte black finish. They combine with a Hi-Fi Class AB amplifier and 24-bit AKM AK4396 DAC for crisp, clear, and sonically accurate audio reproduction, at a loud 100W. Conveniently stream music via Bluetooth aptX HD from up to 100' away, or keep it local with wired optical, RCA, or 3.5mm wired input.
Durable and High-Quality Drivers
The 0.75" silk tweeters are ferrofluid-cooled, while the 5" Aramid fiber woven glass composite material with rubber surrounds are housed in cast aluminum frames, which offer high rigidity and optimized heat dissipation. These durable materials are made to not only deliver exceptional quality with details you may never have heard before from your favorite songs, but they are also meant to hold their shape and performance over time. Even when driven at high levels of power.
Thick Cabinets
The drivers inside are nothing without well-designed cabinets to house them. The HD5 music system utilizes 0.7" thick high-resin MDF walls. This design keeps vibrations low, which rounded edges reduce high-frequency diffraction effects on the front baffles, while also adding attractive aesthetics. This all works on conjunction with tuned rear port slots to help those internal drivers fill your room with clear and balanced sound.
Component Protection
Ensuring that the components of the HD5 speakers are properly protected, Audioengine incorporates various protection technologies, such as output current limiting, thermal over-temperature, power on/off transient protection, and a replaceable main fuse.
