API AUDIO SR22 Dual-Channel Compressor

API AUDIO SR22 Dual-Channel Compressor

API AUDIO SR22 Overview

Based on the celebrated dynamics section of the classic ATI Paragon live mixing consoles, the API Audio SR22 is a dual-channel compressor with optional stereo link support and API's patented THRUST circuit for enhanced low-end punch. Sporting variable threshold, ratio, and makeup gain controls, this compressor is fast, easy to use, and delivers professional results.

The SR22 features an automatic timing circuit that sets the attack and release times based on the audio signal, resulting in pleasing compression that avoids the clicks and pops of hard-edged attack and ultrafast release times. You can also switch between hard- or soft-knee compression modes. The SR22 includes two classic illuminated analog VU meters, with the option to switch between monitoring output level or gain reduction. You also get a peak LED indicator. This compressor provides fully balanced I/O via either XLR or 1/4" connections.

A Paragon of Compression
This is the same compressor circuit originally included in all ATI Paragon mixing consoles. ATI was founded in 1988 to manufacture audio equipment for live sound reinforcement. Paragon mixing consoles could be found on many of the top tours of the past 20 years. One of the most distinctive features of these consoles were the onboard dynamics processing, favorites of many top engineers on the road.

ATI was able to acquire API in 1999, and today, the engineering approach and manufacturing processes of ATI have been incorporated into API. The SR22 is a faithful reproduction of this classic compression circuity.

Simple Control
Each channel includes the patented THRUST circuit, which protects the sensitive high-frequency content of the audio signal, even under the most vigorous of compression ratios. The perfect companion to the new SR24 Dual Channel EQ, the SR22 provides comprehensive, easy-to-use control along with classic analog VU meters for monitoring output and gain reduction. The two channels can also be linked for use as a stereo compressor with true RMS power summing of the left and right signals.
